Essential Skincare Routine
Certain Essential Steps Are Necessary For Every Comprehensive Skincare Program
Wrinkles occur from damage to the deeper dermal layer of the skin. Improvement requires more aggressive treatments that stimulate dermal collagen production. EpiCentre Skin Care & Laser Center offers various treatments to improve mild wrinkles. There is mounting evidence that healthy skin cell growth can be enhanced with products such as SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex (growth factors), TNS Essential Serum, or the ZO Skin Health Program using Retin-A® (Tretinoin) to achieve improvement and prevention of fine wrinkles. The Fraxel Re: Store Dual laser or the Halo HYBRID Fractional Laser are also being offered for more rapid results with minimum downtime. More severe wrinkling may require plastic surgical management or more aggressive surgical laser resurfacing. EpiCentre and the physician staff of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute can provide all of these treatments.
Throughout the day, dust, dirt, and oil accumulate on your skin. Using soap to clean your face disrupts the natural protective barrier of the skin and should be avoided. Gentle, non-soapy cleansers from SkinMedica, ZO Skin Health, SkinCeuticals, and Eraclea are much kinder to your skin.
Skin cells become dry and create buildup on the skin’s surface. Removing these dry cells allows healthy, moist cells to replace them and reflect light more evenly, yielding an attractive skin glow. Exfoliation treatments range from HydraFacial MD, dermaplaning and chemical peels for quick results, or skincare products with exfoliating agents, such as retinol and creams containing AHA, BHA, or salicylic acid.
The skin’s pigment cells (melanocytes) become dysfunctional and create brown spots due to sun damage and the natural aging process. These spots can be rapidly removed with light and laser treatments, such as the BroadBand Light (Photofacial), Fraxel Dual Re: Store, Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser, and chemical peels. Slower improvement and prevention of new brown spots can be achieved by using skin bleaching agents, such as Hydroquinone, retinol, and specific brightening products found in the ZO Skin Health and SkinMedica product lines.
Sun exposure causes damage to the normal chemistry of your skin cells, which can cause early signs of aging and skin cancer. A good sunscreen should be used to protect against ultraviolet (UVA/UVB) rays. Physical sunscreens (those containing Zinc or Titanium Dioxide) work best. These ingredients are present in many of the Elta MD products at EpiCentre Skin Care & Laser Center. Antioxidants are an essential part of skincare and help neutralize the sun’s damaging effects. These products can also be found in our office.
